Production of vehicles worldwide in 2023.
The Serbian Association of Vehicle and Parts Importers conveys information from the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), which shows that 93,546,599 vehicles (cars and light commercial vehicles) were produced worldwide during the past year.
Vehicles were manufactured in 39 countries, with China being the largest producer at 30,160,966 vehicles.
Behind China in second place is the USA with 10,611,555 vehicles. Third is Japan with 8,937,444 vehicles produced.
Countries where more than one million vehicles were produced include India (5,851,507), South Korea (4,243,597), Germany (4,109,571 - passenger vehicles only, other data not provided), Mexico (4,002,047), Spain (2,451,221), Brazil (2,324,832), Thailand (1,801,634), Canada (1,553,024), France (1,505,231), Turkey (1,468,393), Czech Republic (1,404,501), Indonesia (1,395,757), Slovakia (1,080,000 - passenger vehicles only, other data not provided by OICA), and the United Kingdom (1,025,474).
Other non-OICA member countries collectively produced 2,006,197 vehicles.
When it comes to passenger vehicles alone, 67,133,570 were produced.
The highest numbers were in China (26,123,757), the USA (8,886,384), Japan (7,765,428), India (4,783,628), and Germany (4,109,571).
Following them were South Korea (3,908,747), Spain (1,907,050), Brazil (1,781,612), Czech Republic (1,397,816), Indonesia (1,180,00), Slovakia (1,080,000), and France (1,026,690).
A year earlier, in 2022, 84,830,376 vehicles were produced worldwide.
In 2021, that number was 80,004,575 vehicles, in 2020, 77,438,570 vehicles were produced, and in 2019, 91,858,165 vehicles were made.
In Europe (all countries, not just the EU), 18,122,449 vehicles were produced in 2023. In 2022 - 16,032,840, 2021 - 16,137,638, 2020 - 16,692,847, and in 2019 - 21,268,772 vehicles.
