Regulation on Subsidies for Electric Vehicles for 2026 Adopted

The Regulation on the conditions and procedures for implementing subsidized purchases of new electric vehicles, adopted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, was approved at today’s session of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. A key novelty is the introduction of a significantly simplified application procedure via the eGovernment (eUprava) Portal.

For this purpose, the 2026 state budget has allocated RSD 170 million. The amount of subsidies will range from EUR 250 to EUR 5,000, depending on the type of vehicle—whether subsidies are granted for mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, quadricycles, or passenger and commercial vehicles with electric propulsion.

Detailed instructions with comprehensive explanations will be published soon. Interested applicants will be able to submit subsidy applications electronically in the period from 1 March to 30 September 2026.

The Minister of Environmental Protection, Sara Pavkov, emphasized that electronic applications will enable faster processing of requests, while citizens and businesses will find it easier to exercise their right to state support for the purchase of electric vehicles.

“Interest from citizens and businesses over the past year exceeded all expectations, and this year we are continuing our support for the purchase of electric vehicles. What is new this year is that we have done everything possible to further simplify the application process. By introducing electronic applications via the eGovernment Portal, the process will be even more efficient and accessible, which I believe will further motivate citizens and businesses to opt for environmentally friendly vehicles. This is one of a series of concrete measures aimed at improving air quality and protecting the environment, and at the same time, step by step, improving the quality of life for our citizens,” Pavkov said.

The Minister reiterated that RSD 170 million has been allocated for this purpose in the 2026 budget, and that subsidy amounts will range from EUR 250 to EUR 5,000, depending on the vehicle category—mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, quadricycles, or electric passenger and commercial vehicles.

“As before, the Ministry of Environmental Protection will grant subsidies in the order in which complete and eligible applications are received. With this Regulation, the state once again confirms its commitment to sustainable development and the promotion of eco-mobility, with the goal of creating a cleaner environment for all citizens. Should the allocated funds be exhausted before the deadline, the Ministry will inform the public in a timely manner, and we will make efforts to ensure that the subsidy allocation process, as in previous years, continues and that additional funds are secured for this purpose,” Pavkov stated.
