Serbian Association of vehicle and spare parts importers announces participation of over 40 automotive, LCV, and more than 25 motorcycle brands at the upcoming Belgrade Auto show

The International Motor Show and the 17th International Motorcycle, Quad, Scooter, and Equipment Fair "Motopassion" will take place at the Belgrade Fair from March 20 to 26. The Serbian Association of Vehicle and Parts Importers has announced the participation of over 40 automotive and light commercial vehicle (LCV) brands, as well as more than 25 motorcycle brands, all operating under the umbrella of its member companies.

At the press conference held in anticipation of the event, it was emphasized that more than 250 exhibitors will be present, including financial institutions, insurance companies, professional organizations, clubs, associations, and specialized media. Visitors can look forward to 80 automotive premieres, 72 motorcycle premieres, and 27 light commercial vehicle premieres.

On this occasion, Aleksandra Đurđević, President of the Association, highlighted that the new car market grew by approximately 10% over the past year, the light commercial vehicle segment increased by 18%, and the motorcycle segment also saw a 15% rise, marking the best result in the past five years. Additionally, sales figures surpassed pre-COVID levels, exceeding those of 2019.

She added that despite this positive trend in new vehicle sales, the Serbian market remains predominantly a used car market. One of the key areas for improvement is renewing the aging vehicle fleet. She also pointed out that in 2024, Serbia imported 58,000 used vehicles with EURO 3 and EURO 4 emissions standards—twice the number of new cars sold.

Đurđević emphasized that the global automotive industry remains committed to the transition toward electromobility, despite numerous challenges and differing approaches among key global players regarding the pace of transformation. She stressed that there is no turning back from this path. Therefore, it is crucial for all relevant stakeholders in Serbia to take a comprehensive approach—focusing on faster infrastructure development, legislative changes, non-financial incentives, and operational and technical aspects—to catch up with more developed countries. Currently, electric vehicles account for only 1% of the market share in Serbia.

Furthermore, Đurđević underscored the need for modernization in the education system, particularly regarding professions in the auto/moto service sector, which have evolved significantly over the past decades. These professions now represent a blend of craftsmanship and sophisticated technology.
